Volunteering at Atchison Hospital has been a community tradition since 1957, when the Atchison Hospital Auxiliary was founded.. Atchison Hospital offers services for adult volunteers as well as opportunities for students ages 14-18 in the junior volunteer program. All programs require an application, an interview, a TB skin test, and completion of orientation. Atchison Hospital Volunteers contribute more than 115,000 hours of service yearly. Volunteer opportunities involving varied levels of skill, challenge and involvement are offered. Hours and days are flexible and training is provided. Most positions require two to four hours per week commitment. Services offered include Le Volontaire gift shop, Twice is Nice Thrift Shop, Mail Delivery, Surgery Hospitality, Information Desk, Scholarship program, Prescription Counseling and fundraising activities.
