Atchison Hospital, Atchison, Kansas July 27, 2009 Every summer, Atchison Hospital Auxiliary’s Junior Volunteer Program is in full swing. This summer, there are 11 junior volunteers working in various departments throughout the hospital. The Junior Volunteer program is beneficial to both the hospital and the junior volunteers. The hospital gets great help, and the junior volunteers get service hours and valuable experience in a medical setting. Some of the volunteers want to go into careers in the medical field, so they shadow nurses to learn more about how a hospital works,” Pickman said. “Other volunteers are earning service hours for their high school and enjoy helping out at the hospital.” The junior volunteer’s wonderful attitudes and service make them an asset to the hospital. “They provide a good service to the hospital. They help employees with many tasks, and read and sit with patients,” Pickman said. “Patients like to see the young people.” The 2009 Junior Volunteers include: Nathan Bauman, Maggie Robohn, Jane Pros, Dylan Klawhun, Jordan Hennigh, Tom Wilson, Kristi Cash, Sarah Federenko, Felicity Crossland, Angela Moccia, and Zack Martin.
