Atchison Hospital, Atchison Kansas October 15, 2007 The Atchison Hospital’s “Best Care Health Fair 2007” on Saturday, Nov. 3 at Atchison Elementary School proved to be a great success. This year’s event brought out a record breaking 177 people. “Wellness is becoming such a priority these days,” said TC Roberts, Atchison Hospital Marketing and Development Manager. “The health fair, along with the services it offers, is our way of giving back to the community. It also helps the community become better acquainted with us, and the services we offer.” The hospital offered many free screenings that are of great value to the Atchison community. There was also important health information, speakers, and demonstrations. A Jaws of Life demonstration, helicopter and ambulance tours, and face painting attracted a younger crowd. A brand new bicycle was even raffled off to one lucky child. Many door prizes, including two sets of Theatre Atchison “High School Musical” tickets, were raffled off throughout the day. Give-aways included stress balls, pens, magnets, sling back backpacks, and much more. There was also a “High School Musical” performance by Theatre Atchison and a hand washing demonstration. These are just a few of the interactive activities that were at the Atchison Hospital health fair. There was one speaker during every hour of the health fair. Aaron Sinclair, MD Family Practice Physician, spoke about the importance of colon screenings, Joyce Allen, Rehab Services Manager, had a speech titled “Sit up straight: exercises for better posture” Michelle Pruessner, PA-C Family Practice, spoke about gardasil, the new HPV vaccine at Phyllis Lieb, Maternal Care Manager, spoke about prenatal care. The day was filled with opportunities for people of all ages to learn about their health and have a good time. Atchison Hospital worked hard to provide community awareness on health. |
